The Urban League of Louisiana has a strong history of supporting Black and other underserved communities in their pursuit of economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights. For 88 years, the organization has been instrumental in removing barriers to equitable education, health, employment, economic opportunities, and social justice. In 2016, the Urban League expanded to a statewide entity to serve our seven target cities: Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, New Orleans, Monroe, and Shreveport.

The Urban League of Louisiana uses a holistic and family-centered approach across all its strategies. With a multi-generational view, our 2Gen approach connects people to services and resources across key issue areas including Health & Wellbeing, Generational Wealth, and Housing Stability. We streamline internal processes that emphasize continuous improvement to better serve the whole family. We advocate for policies informed by the work we do with people every day to drive system-level change and to inform decision making across the state in service of our mission.
